ABOUT ME

            Hello, everyone! Let me introduce myself, my name is Rania Mufidah. Just call me Rania. I am a student of English Language Education Department in Islamic State University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Most people know it as UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya or UINSA. Now, I am in the 4th semester.

            I created this blog because I want to share anything in learning or teaching English and fulfill CALL’s Final Exam Project. To get to know me, you can contact me by email raniamufidah49@gmail.com

Tools for Teaching

THE ONLINE AND OFFLINE TOOL FOR TEACHERS IN TEACHING ACTIVITIES

To help teachers in building interactive and creative learning a tool is needed to support teaching and learning activities. There are so many tools that teachers find on the internet. The challenge of teachers out there is how to find easy to access tools that have some advantages in one tool. There are several useful tools to support teaching activities. In this article, I’ll show you seven.

So, Get ready to start exploring these tools!

1. Nearpod

This is an online tool that teachers can use to present the material without video. But, teachers can explain it using their voice in each slide presentation. Not only present the material in slide, but also teachers can add the quizzes in one presentation. The types of quiz questions can be multiple choices, essay, drag-drop, or oral answer through voice etc. then, teachers can see students' scores and their answers. It's a really nice tool.

 

2. Kahoot

This is one of the tools that teachers usually use for quizzes. This is a game-based learning platform. Teachers can either create their own quizzes or find quizzes. Created quizzes can be multiple choice or true and false. Kahoot does not involve students' accounts, so teachers just share pin games and students type the pin in the main screen and type their name for participants in that game.

 

3. Google Doc

This tool is an online tool that teachers use for writing skills. Teachers can share the link of the document to their students. So, they can write at the same time with all their friends. Furthermore, this tool is useful for knowing grammatical mistakes in writing a text. It also provides the correct grammar rules.

 

4. Canva

Canva is a tool to create posters, logos, graphics, presentations, etc. Canva is easy to use. If you don’t have a concept idea, you can use the template that you want. And then, you just drag and drop and edit text. Lastly, you can download in some format: picture or pdf.

 

5. Edpuzzle

This is a tool for creating interactive video with embedded audio notes, assessments, and quizzes. Teachers can control the students and students can rewatch the video. Students can also respond to written questions or quizzes.

 

6. Padlet

Padlet is a cloud-hosted online site to help teachers and students’ safety collaborate and distribute content in one environment. The main benefits of Padlet are its reliable mind-map tool, easy-to-use, and free online bulletin board solution. Padlet allows you to post interesting questions and content such as video, images, text, and documents.

 

7. Bandicam

This is a screen recorder application that is famous for being able to record high quality videos. It can be used for recording teachers in presenting the material before the class. After recording, teachers can save recording as a video file in AVI or MP4 format. Some of the most prominent features of Bandicam are the ability to choose and record certain areas or overall laptop screen.

 

You’re sure to find your own best and suitable tools for teachers' needs in teaching and learning activities. Hopefully, those tools that I’ve recommended are useful and helpful for teaching.

In the technology era, websites are the most visited when connecting on the internet. Most people visit a website every day. Because they know the benefits of websites. Almost all of the fields that you want to know deeply such as news, cooking recipes, education, etc. are available on the internet. Website is also used for education in the teaching and learning process.


How do you find a suitable website that offers a win-win solution for you?  Yeah, interactive website. Interactive web will help you to practice English skills. Instead of just memorizing new vocabulary, grammar rules, tenses, etc. you will also practice 4 English skills namely speaking, reading, listening, and writing. 


May be one of the most challenging of teachers out there, especially to non-native speakers. It is the best way to teach, especially to non-native speakers teachers. Don’t worry, teachers can access materials for teaching in over a thousand million websites on the internet; in addition, students also find interesting topics to develop their skill in the learning process.


Honestly, there are several great websites to learn English. In this article, I’ll show you seven. Note that no website is the best or most useful. Because all learning webs have their respective benefits. So, Get ready to start exploring the best websites to learn English!


1.     Learn English

This site is very useful for learners. There are many English skills that you can practice every day. This is a website that provides complete English language skills practice. You can learn about grammar, vocabulary, English basic, English lessons, pronunciation, games, and other things. You must visit this link to improve your English skill.


2.    Duolingo

This is a great website for learning vocabulary, grammar through interactive quizzes or games. Duolingo also provides learning through online websites or on easy-to-use mobile apps. It also lets you set your own goal and monitor the progress. You can join that competition league to compete with other people in the world.


3.    Lyrics Training

This site is very useful to practice listening and pronunciation. Lyrics training website provides fun learning to let you test your skill by typing in the missing word of the song. It also allows you to choose easy or hard tests.


4.    My English Pages

In this site you can learn about reading, speaking, listening, writing, etc. This website provides interactive learning on every topic.


5.    TED

This is not strictly a website for learning English, but it is very accessible to non-native speakers. TED provides a complete text or transcript in English for every talk. Unlike subtitles in movies, this subtitle is complete or full text.


6.    The Jakarta Post

In this newspaper website, you can develop reading skills in so many topics that are available there. You not only learn reading but also you will get the latest news provided there. It will keep you from missing the news that is popular or hot news.


7.    Youglish

This website helps you practice correct speaking and pronunciation through videos or shows. You only need to type a word or sentence that you are hesitant to pronounce, Youglish will help you by providing a video snippet of a native speaker saying the word.

Blog (a shortened version of “weblog”) is a potential tool for communicating ideas or informational websites displaying information. It is a platform where a writer or a group of writers share their views on an individual subject.

3. To connect bloggers to the relevant audience.

4. To send quality leads to your website.

5. To showcase your niche authority and build a brand.



Q3: What are the purposes of Blog for teaching and learning activities?

1. To share the material in a blog for students or other teachers.

2. as a teacher learning tool in a blog

3. For teacher using a blog as tool in teaching and learning process can            increase the quality of teacher itself and teacher’s competency

4. Students can access teacher’s blog anytime and anywhere. And also, to         introduce students in information and technology.

5. as a tool to share ideas and opinion by comment section below.



Q4: What are terms of Blog?


1. Blogging is a collection of skills that one needs to run and supervise a blog. This entails equipping a web page with tools to make the process of writing, posting, linking, and sharing content easier on the internet.


2. Blogger is someone who runs and controls a blog. They are people who share their opinion or knowledge on different topics for a target audience.


 

Q4: What are the advantages of a blog over other communication?1. Blog is findable. 

It means, blog is easily found in search engines for people based on subject or topic, blogger’s name, and so on.


2. Blog is linkable. 

Most blogs connect with other information that is available on internet. One blog can connect to another, one website to  another and so on.


3. Blogging is sociable. 

Blog provides interesting discussion and information based on the topic. Bloggers can easily communicate with the readers in comment, share ideas or opinions which is can be seen other readers.



Q5: How to create a blog easily?

Stage 1: Visit a blog website. Click: www.blogspot.com


Stage 2:Create a blog account! Make sure, you’ve already had Gmail account.


Stage 3: Click “create a blog”!


Stage 4: Create a name for your blog!


Stage 5: Choose the theme of a blog! (You can change it later)


Stage 6: Your blog is ready.

2.   Click layout to set a display of a blog.

AUDACITY (PODCAST)

In this article, I am going to show you how to make a podcast. Firstly, podcasts are recorded audio discussions on certain topics that can be listened to both online and offline. In this digital era, many people share their experiences or stories in the form of podcasts with any theme such as business, education, audiobooks, politics, comedy, etc. Furthermore, there are a lot of tools provided to edit or create podcasts, one of the tools is Audacity.

Audacity is an easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac, and other operating systems. The feature-packed software is open-source and free to use. Then, Audacity can edit audio files, mix multiple tracks, apply effects to sound recordings, and do a lot more to create all kinds of music.

How to use Audacity?

STEP 1: Download Audacity in this link: https://www.audacityteam.org

STEP 2: Make sure you’ve already installed Audacity in your device!

STEP 3: Prepare your audio record on your device!

STEP 4: Import your file into Audacity! (File > Import > Audio)

STEP 5: Look at the stereo waveform and start to edit!

STEP 6: Use Audacity features to edit your audio!

STEP 7: Try listening to the audio from start to finish to make sure the results are what you want!

STEP 8: Export your final audio into your device. Audacity supports different types of audio files like MP3, WAV, OGG, and others.

That’s all how to use Audacity. If you want to share the audio with others, you can share it in the form of a podcast. Upload your podcast to Soundcloud, Spotify, iTunes, Google Podcast, etc.
